Jesus looked at our situation and pitted us; he realised, as long as we are under a schoolmaster we’ll still be under oppression of all sort no matter how much we believed and looked to God. For as long as we’re under the law it’ll still be our schoolmaster subjecting us to all sort of fears and dominating us.
Imagine thinking you’ve God but instead it’s simply the law having dominion over you. You think you’re free but instead you’re bound, you’re tied up to the will of a schoolmaster which is your husband.
Jesus realised that unless we are set free indeed, even from that schoolmaster we’ll still continue to be bound and for as long as we are under his rule. So he came up with a plan that would loosen you and me from his knuckles. And when he died he took with him that dominated life and left it in the tomb, leaving us free to marry another man – so that we each have a resurrected life that brings forth fruit to God.
Romans 7:4 says, “Wherefore, my brethren, ye also are become dead to the law by the body of Christ; that ye should be married to another, even to him who is raised from the dead, that we should bring forth fruit unto God.”
Isn’t that amazing? Jesus looked at your live and realized you were not going to make it by yourself worse more if the law is your schoolmaster. The law will overpower you it doesn’t matter how much you believe and trust in God. “For we know that the law is spiritual: but I am carnal, sold under sin.” Romans 7:14
CHRIST therefore presented himself for this sacrificial death when we were far too weak, sold under sin and rebellious to do anything to get ourselves ready. And even if we hadn’t been so weak, we wouldn’t have known what to do anyway. Romans 7:6 says, “But now we are delivered from the law, that being dead wherein we were held; that we should serve in newness of spirit, and not in the oldness of the letter.”
Paul wrote, “O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from the body of this death?” Romans 7:24
Jesus did, he freed us from the law, and we ain’t bound to it anymore; “Wherefore, my brethren, ye also are become dead to the law by the body of Christ; that ye should be married to another, even to him who is raised from the dead, that we should bring forth fruit unto God.” Romans 7:4
