With good will doing service

With good will doing service, as to the Lord!

“Servants, be obedient to them that are your masters according to the flesh, with fear and trembling, in singleness of your heart, as unto Christ; Not with eyeservice, as menpleasers; but as the servants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart; With good will doing service, as to the Lord, and not to men: Knowing that whatsoever good thing any man doeth, the same shall he receive of the Lord, whether he be bond or free.” Ephesians 6:5-8

Just as well, even us servants of God, only God is our master. We serve him only, with fear and trembling, and in singleness of heart, as unto Christ; “Not with eyeservice, as menpleasers; but as the servants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart; With good will doing service, as to the Lord, and not to men…”

We see much of an ‘eyeservice’ these days, don’t we? Instead of serving God in singleness of heart many prophets have turned themselves into ‘menpleasers’. Doing the will of God from the heart, with good will doing service, as to the Lord, and not to men is not as common these days. We’re back in the days of Eli where in those days the word of the Lord was precious, and there was no open vision.

Doing the will of God from the heart, with good will doing service, and as to the Lord, is not the same as eyeservice or men pleasing.  I think you can agree with me that angels were not menpleasers, were thy? And the prophets of old, and Christ? At one moment he blessed Simon Peter, the next he sharply rebuked him. Anyone who does the will of God from the heart is not a menpleaser, you were not called to only be motivational speakers. Apostle Paul said, “I charge thee therefore before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall judge the quick and the dead at his appearing and his kingdom; Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine. For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables. But watch thou in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, make full proof of thy ministry.”

In Luke 2:14 the angel said to the shepherds, “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.” Good will isn’t just about telling people what they want to hear. But, notice the order, first is “Glory to God in the highest, second, “on earth peace,” third, well down line,  “good will toward men.” Your calling brethren is not eyeservice, is not to please men; “but as the servants of Christ,” it is that you do the will of God from the heart; “with good will doing service, as to the Lord, and not to men.”

God bless,

Laurence

Bible verse of the day

And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men; Knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for ye serve the Lord Christ.
