“For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh: That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.” Romans 8:3-4
“For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh….” Christ fulfilled it.
The law though holy, just, and good yet it could not quicken our mortal bodies. The law could not deliver us from the body of this death, or carnal mind. We were trapped to the law of sin and death, evil was ever present – sin had taken residency. “For the good that I would I do not: but the evil which I would not, that I do.” Romans 7:19
The law couldn’t deliver us from the body of this death, we were indebted to the flesh, to live after the flesh, not after the spirit.
The law could not mortify the deeds of the body. We were in bondage, were made subject to vanity and living in fear under our own skin.
“For we know that the whole creation groaneth and travaileth in pain together until now. And not only they , but ourselves also, which have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for the adoption, to wit , the redemption of our body.” Romans 8:22-23
“But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his. And if Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the Spirit is life because of righteousness. But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.” Romans 8:9-11
But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he … shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you, hallelujah!
His Spirit is in your life for a reason; to lead you and to pray through you. “For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God. For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father. The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God.” Romans 8:14-16
We are saved by hope; to be glorified together with Him.
“For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren.” Romans 8:29
That which the law could not do, he fulfilled. He did predestinate us, called us, justified us and he also glorified us.
“Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?
As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter. Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us. For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 8:35-39
