What has God said?

“Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.” 2 Timothy 2:15

What should you study?

The Scriptures are the authoritative source of our Christian faith, so every believer should be able to ask himself this question when you read your bible, “What has God said?”

What has God said; concerning the Godhead, Man, Salvation, the Bible, the Future, etc? If like Peter you’re able to answer that, then what you will say, i.e. your response, will be revelation, and that you say will form the basis or foundation for your christian faith.

Revelation does not come cheaply, instead you “Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth,” precept upon precept, line upon line, and here a little and there a little.

You’ll be able to know God only through studying his Word. The reason we go to church is so that we should become wise, it’s so we should increase our knowledge of God and become much wiser. Sermons and books are okay, however they’re just not good enough. But I show you a much better way – read for yourself. You will find that reading the Word of God for yourselves, reading it rather than notes upon it, is the surest way of growing in grace. Samuel was told by Eli. “Go, lie down: and it shall be, if he call thee, that thou shalt say, Speak, Lord ; for thy servant heareth...”  1 Samuel 3:9. It is always best to drink water at the well and not from a tank. Peter was able to say, “Wherefore laying aside all malice, and all guile, and hypocrisies, and envies, and all evil speakings, As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby: If so be ye have tasted that the Lord is gracious.” 1 Peter 2:1-3

Drink of the unadulterated milk of the Word of God, and do not rely on commentaries and sermons but rightly divide the word of truth – search the scriptures for yourself, for in them is the answer.

So, I gave you at least six specific areas of interest for you to think about as you begin to study God’s Word; i.e., Godhead, Bible, Man, Salvation, Holy Ghost and the future, and there is none other greater than these. Ask yourself, Yes people say this and that but what say I? What does God say?
