Two great signs

There appeared in heaven two great signs;

  1. a woman clothed with the sun, and the moon under her feet, and upon her head a crown of twelve stars
  2. a great red dragon, having seven heads and ten horns, and seven crowns upon his heads.

Here is how the story goes;

The woman was pregnant and was in pain of her labor, awaiting her delivery. At the time of her giving birth the red Dragon had rebelled in heaven and drew behind him a third of the stars or angels, (ref. vs 4). So there was war in heaven; “Michael and the angels under his command fought the Dragon and his hosts of fallen angels. And the Dragon lost the battle and was forced from heaven.” (Revelation 12:7-8). The great dragon was then cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him. This happened at the time the woman was giving birth to a boy who was to rule all nations.

Why was he cast down? He accused the brethren before our God day and night. (ref. vs 10). That’s all he ever did.

So when the Dragon found himself cast down to earth, he persecuted this woman who had given birth to the child but God helped her flee.

Revelation 12:14-17 says,

“And to the woman were given two wings of a great eagle, that she might fly into the wilderness, into her place, where she is nourished for a time, and times, and half a time, from the face of the serpent. [15] And the serpent cast out of his mouth water as a flood after the woman, that he might cause her to be carried away of the flood. [16] And the earth helped the woman, and the earth opened her mouth, and swallowed up the flood which the dragon cast out of his mouth. [17] And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.”

The woman and her son was able to evade these attacks but the truth is us are in imminent danger; he wants to get rid of us by all means. He gave up on the woman and his child and that made him to want to take revenge on you that believe. Revelation 12:17 says, “And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.”

But, don’t be afraid, because God who caused the woman to flee, is able to give you wings to fly, far away to your own place of safety, to a place where you’re also nourished – away from the face of the serpent. Here is the big promise for you that believe; “And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.” Revelation 12:11
