Two easy questions that could change your life;
- Are you in Christ Jesus?
- Do you walk after the Spirit?
If your answer is yes to all of the above then you’ve nothing to worry about “…if so be that the Spirit of God dwells in you…” Romans 8:9
Two things to take note of;
- Christ makes you pardoned, and
- the Spirit makes you live again even after you die.
Believers should know it’s not enough to follow God only after the old nature of sheer positive thinking or reasoning, i.e. the normal way of processing information because it leads to death but following Him after the Spirit leads to life and peace. “For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.” Romans 8:6
There is always this problem with the mind that it subjects you to vanity – it keep dragging you back to your old sinful nature, it drags you back to serving God in the flesh. Romans 8:13-14 says, “For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live. For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.”
No wonder Jesus said to Nicodemus, “…Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again.” John 3:5-7
There is so much happening if the Holy Spirit dwells in you, something going beyond just speaking in other tongues. The Spirit himself will mortify or crush the deeds of the body on your behalf. He makes you live and continue to obey God’s laws, and even if you were to die, you’ll live again. But following God after the old nature leads to death. Why death? Because nothing in you lives to testify or convict you for the truth. 1 John 5:6 says, “This is he that came by water and blood, even Jesus Christ; not by water only, but by water and blood. And it is the Spirit that beareth witness, because the Spirit is truth.”
“The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God: And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him , that we may be also glorified together.” Romans 8:16 – 17
The Spirit helps us with our daily problems – he keeps our hopes alive!
“Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God.” Romans 8:26-27
I said earlier Christ is the one that makes you get pardoned and that the Spirit makes you live again after you die. It is God that justifies…it is Christ…who also maketh intercession for us.”
“Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.” Romans 8:35 – 37
Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Nobody! Christ’s love is distributed over a wide area and is therefore not conformed to only saying lord, lord!
I also said you’ve nothing to worry about, “For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 8:38-39.
