Through the knowledge of God

Through the knowledge of God

Grace and peace is multiplied to you only through knowing God, and Jesus Christ our Lord.

2 Peter 3:17-18 says,

“Ye therefore, beloved, seeing ye know these things before, beware lest ye also, being led away with the error of the wicked, fall from your own stedfastness. But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ…”

“According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue.” 2 Peter 1:3

All things that pertain unto life and godliness, comes to us only through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue.

By that same divine power he has given “us exceeding great and precious promises,” (vs 4) for instance, the promise to save us from corruption that is in the world through lust and to give us his own character.

It’s same power that “makes you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.”

What a privilege it is that you’re born again, this time born again to a lively hope. So, you need not to worry because his divine power is busy undertaking.

Always remember that;

  • you’re elected “according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, through sanctification of the Spirit,” (1 Peter 1:2). “…born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.” John 1:13
  • you’re now being kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time, 1 Peter 1:5
  • you’re being kept for “an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you.” 1 Peter 1:4

But meanwhile give all diligence,

“…add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge; [6] And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness; [7] And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity. [8] For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ…” 2 Peter 1:5-8

But he that lacketh these things is blind, and cannot see afar off, and hath forgotten that he was purged from his old sins. Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall.” 2 Peter 1:9-10
