These things command and teach

These things command and teach

“If thou put the brethren in remembrance of these things, thou shalt be a good minister of Jesus Christ, nourished up in the words of faith and of good doctrine, whereunto thou hast attained.” 1 Timothy 4:6 KJV

We need food and water!

Food is any nutritious substance we eat or drink to maintain life or growth. God gave these things to us Christians to enjoy and be thankful for, and meat also is on the list of dishes available for our consumption.

“For every creature of God is good, and nothing to be refused, if it be received with thanksgiving.” 1 Timothy 4:4

A well-taught Christian knows that;

  • everything God made is good, he eats it gladly, if received with thanks.
  • after he has given thanks for it, it is instead sanctified by the word of God and prayer, (ref. vs 5).

“These things command and teach.” 1 Timothy 4:11, and verse 6 says, “If you explain this to the others you will be doing your duty as a worthy pastor who is fed by faith and by the true teaching you have followed.”

Now, what do ‘evil workers’ do?

These teachers tell “lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron; Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth.” 1 Timothy 4:2-3

  • they say it is wrong to eat meat, “even though God gave these things to well-taught Christians to enjoy and be thankful for.”

That shouldn’t surprise you anyway because; “…the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils.” 1 Timothy 4:1

“…in the latter times some shall depart from the faith…” some will give up on the faith and chase after demonic illusions put forth by professional liars. Just make sure it’s not you spoken about.

Jude 1:10-12 says,

“But these speak evil of those things which they know not: but what they know naturally, as brute beasts, in those things they corrupt themselves. Woe unto them! ….These are spots in your feasts of charity, when they feast with you, feeding themselves without fear: clouds they are without water, carried about of winds…”

These liars have lied so well and for so long that they’ve lost their capacity for truth.

Colossians 2:20-23 says,

[20] Wherefore if ye be dead with Christ from the rudiments of the world, why, as though living in the world, are ye subject to ordinances, [21] (Touch not; taste not; handle not; [22] Which all are to perish with the using;) after the commandments and doctrines of men? [23] Which things have indeed a shew of wisdom in will worship, and humility, and neglecting of the body; not in any honour to the satisfying of the flesh.

oops, “…after the commandments and doctrines of men..” So, it’s just men troubling you!

Back to Timothy, Paul says,

“But refuse profane and old wives’ fables, and exercise thyself rather unto godliness. For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come. This is a faithful saying and worthy of all acceptation.” 1 Timothy 4:7-9 KJV
