1 Corinthians 8 is one of short chapter in the bible, with only 13 verses yet it’s spiritual content is so rich.
Not every Christian is knowledgeable about God.
The fact that we are christians does not mean our levels of comprehension are the same. “But if any man love God, the same is known of him.” 1 Corinthians 8:3
You may not need to know everything in the bible, cover to cover in order to be a christian. Sometimes your conscience could just be enough.
Some believers are not just capable of processing strong meat no matter how much they read the bible or hear sermons. Some ain’t educated enough even to be able to read but even though they’re your brothers in Christ. Some 30 – 40 years still waiting for someone to push them in water, that should matter. You’re not even better than them.
Mostly Pentecostals are the ones responsible for causing great spiritual damage on other believers because of differences – they feel their level of understanding scriptures is better and therefore is the way. Everyone is under siege because of them, and they go about then preying on the simple.
“But take heed lest by any means this liberty of yours become a stumblingblock to them that are weak…And through thy knowledge shall the weak brother perish, for whom Christ died?” 1 Corinthians 8:9,11
“…there is not in every man that knowledge…”1 Corinthians 8:7
Prosperity gospel preachers have much blood in their hands, and so many have backslidden because of them, “…What hast thou done? the voice of thy brother’s blood crieth unto me from the ground.” Genesis 4:10
It is a sin against Christ to sin against your brother by means of putting stumbling blocks on their way, and stretching them beyond what they are capable of doing, “and wound their weak conscience.” 1 Corinthians 8:12
Mind you, there is only one God, and no other!
One God for the Catholics, Seventh Day and Pentecostals, poor and rich, educated and uneducated, black and white alike. There is only one God, who is their Father too, those you label as lost or dead churches. He’s one God whom they serve also with their conscience, thinking of idols as alive.
But to us there is but one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we in him; and one Lord Jesus Christ, by whom are all things, and we by him. 1 Corinthians 8:6
