“For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light: (For the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth;) Proving what is acceptable unto the Lord. And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them.” Ephesians 5:8-11
Because you are light;
- walk as children of light
- prove what is acceptable to the Lord
- reprove unfruitful works of darkness
As we follow God’s way, walking in His word, living by his truths as stated, we enter into His promises of abundant life.
So what’s key to inherenting promises is following God’s ways; walking in his word and living by his truth.
Apostle Peter says,
“For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. But he that lacketh these things is blind, and cannot see afar off, and hath forgotten that he was purged from his old sins. Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall: For so an entrance shall be ministered unto you abundantly into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. Wherefore I will not be negligent to put you always in remembrance of these things, though ye know them , and be established in the present truth.” 2 Peter 1:8-12
Earlier he had said, “Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord, According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue: Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.” 2 Peter 1:2-4
Your knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord is key to dealing with God, “According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue.“
Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.
The Holy Spirit is an exceeding great and precious promise: only by him you are made to partake of the divine nature of God here on earth. For if you’ve the Holy Ghost in you, and in charge, he will make you that you shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. But if he’s not in you you’re blind, and cannot see afar off.
Paul says, “Let us therefore, as many as be perfect, be thus minded: and if in any thing ye be otherwise minded, God shall reveal even this unto you. Nevertheless, whereto we have already attained, let us walk by the same rule, let us mind the same thing” (Philippians 3:15-16). With these scriptures I want you to see something; some rules have to be followed, rather, “let us walk by the same rule, let us mind the same thing.“
“God shall reveal even this unto you,” and at this day and age, only by his Spirit, which should abide and dwell in you. Jesus said, “I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now. Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.” John 16:12-13
If you continue without the Spirit of truth, all your lifetime you will be blind. Even the little truth you’ve will be taken away from you. You need the Spirit of truth to give you revelation, understanding and knowledge. For only by him you’re made to partake of the divine nature of God.
Sometimes we ask ourselves, why Lord this unfruitfulness? Here’s the solution, “Neglect not the gift that is in thee, which was given thee by prophecy, with the laying on of the hands of the presbytery. Meditate upon these things; give thyself wholly to them; that thy profiting may appear to all. Take heed unto thyself, and unto the doctrine; continue in them: for in doing this thou shalt both save thyself, and them that hear thee.” 1 Timothy 4:14-16
Neglect not the Holy Ghost, rather, “Follow after charity, and desire spiritual gifts , but rather that ye may prophesy” (1 Corinthians 14:1). Desire fruit also, that it may abound to your account. Remember your knowledge of God is virtual, he called us to glory and virtue.
