“For I bear them record that they have a zeal of God, but not according to knowledge. For they being ignorant of God’s righteousness, and going about to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of God.” Romans 10:2-3
God’s way of salvation or righteousness, is found by people who seek for him through his own way. It’s not found by disobedient and gainsayers, or those refusing to come, not even by those going on about establishing their own righteousness. You’ve to be submissive to what God says is the way of Salvation.
Now the “righteousness which is of faith speaketh on this wise…That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.” Romans 10:6,9
First, you need The Word; “…nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach.” Romans 10:8.
You need the right kind of word, “that is, the word of faith, which we preach.” It’s not every word you hear that’s best for you. You need the right kind of word that able to give you faith, “…faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” Romans 10:17.
Apostle Peter was able to say, “We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts.” 2 Peter 1:19. To be effect the Word has to be “…nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith.”
What sort of work does God’s Word do in your life? It gives you faith, and above Peter said, it is as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts. It prospers you, it enriches you, restores you, nourishes, rewards, protects, strengthens, revives, sanctifies, equips and saves you, and it teaches, judges, warns, rebukes, corrects, guides, counsels, and makes you wise.
Secondly, Believe the gospel, “without faith it is impossible to please him : for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.” Hebrews 11:6.
- believe in thine heart that God hath raised him [Jesus] from the dead.
“…Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.” Romans 10:11
And when you’ve believed, then thirdly, confession is made unto salvation. “For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.” Romans 10:10. Confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus!
Whether you are Jew or Greek, Pastor or Sheep there is no difference: “for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him.” Romans 10:12. It’ll work for you.
But before you can call; hear the word, believe and obey the gospel. The goodnews are glad tidings of good things!
It’s important for you now to pray this prayer;
“Dear Lord Jesus, I know that I am a sinner, and today I ask for Your forgiveness. I believe You died for my sins and rose from the dead. I turn from my sins and invite You to come into my heart and life. I want to trust and follow You as my Lord and Saviour. In Jesus’ Name. Amen
