Your journey to understanding spiritual warfare – Psalm 49
“Hear this, all ye people; give ear, all ye inhabitants of the world: Both low and high, rich and poor, together.” Psalm 49:1-2
In Psalm 49, the Psalmist is saying we all will die, it doesn’t matter who or what you are; brother, sister, wise, foolish or brutish, we shall all be laid in the grave of some kind. We don’t want to hear about it, do we?
Some think their legacy will outlive them; “Their inward thought is, that their houses shall continue for ever, and their dwelling places to all generations; they call their lands after their own names. Nevertheless man being in honour abideth not: he is like the beasts that perish.” (Psalm 49:11-12).
Your legacy is at the mercy of others, it faces an uncertain future. “Man that is in honour, and understandeth not, is like the beasts that perish.” Psalm 49:20
You that trust in your wealth, and boast in the multitude of your riches; also know this day, that a time will come when you will leave your wealth to others. “For when he dieth he shall carry nothing away: his glory shall not descend after him.” Psalm 49:17
“Though while he lived he blessed his soul: and men will praise thee, when thou doest well to thyself. He shall go to the generation of his fathers; they shall never see light.” Psalm 49:18-19
The redemption of your soul is precious
“But God will redeem my soul from the power of the grave: for he shall receive me. Selah.” Psalm 49:15
The starting point is to not take life for granted.
Allow God to have full command of your life. Reacting to life without reference to God’s word is futile. God has to be God, not you.
