The madness of false prophets

“But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction.” 2 Peter 2:1

Take note of this;

False Prophets;

  • they promise much but deliver nothing, vs 17
  • they speak great swelling words of vanity, vs 18
  • they fall in love with the money they make by doing wrong, verse 15
  • they live in evil pleasures day after day, verse 13they use lust as their bait, to lure back into sin those who have just escaped from such wicked living, vs 18
  • they make a game of luring unstable women, verse 14
  • they live in foul sin on the side while they join your love feasts as though they were honest men, vs 13
  • they do whatever they feel like, vs 12
  • they are presumptuous, self-willed, vs 10

These teachers, in their greed will tell you anything to get hold of your money, (ref. 2 Peter 2:3).

  • many shall follow their pernicious, by reason of whom the way of truth shall be evil spoken of, vs 2

But 2 Peter 2:9 says, “The Lord knoweth how to deliver the godly out of temptations, and to reserve the unjust unto the day of judgment to be punished.
