Christ’s character, Isaiah 53
(i) Verse 7-9, Absolute sinlessness; he could not sin.
There was nothing in him to activate sin. “Hereafter I will not talk much with you: for the prince of this world cometh, and hath nothing in me.” John 14:30
(ii) Verse 5-8, Atoning death; was vicarious, he stepped in
Romans 8:32-35 “He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?  Who shall lay any thing to the charge of God’s elect? It is God that justifieth.  Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us.  Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?”
- He did that all to cover us and to take our sins away for the purpose of our redemption, propitiation and reconciliation.
“And not only so , but we also joy in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom we have now received the atonement.” Romans 5:11
(iii) Verse 10-12, Absolute priesthood; he ever liveth to make intercession.
Jesus did not take this honour unto himself but for the father.”And no man taketh this honour unto himself, but he that is called of God, as was Aaron.” Hebrews 5:4
