Are you really Christian?

Honestly there are ways by which you know you’re still a Christian, and to do a SWOT Analysis of yourself is one of them.

“Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates?” 2 Corinthians 13:5

Examine yourselves!

SWOT Analysis is a simple but useful framework for analyzing yourself’s strengths and weaknesses, and the opportunities and threats that you face. It helps you focus on your strengths, minimize threats, and take the greatest possible advantage of opportunities available to you.

Strengths and weaknesses are often inside you, while opportunities and threats generally relate to external factors.

Strengths

“…this also we wish, even your perfection…” 2 Corinthians 13:9

These are your advantages, what you do better or something that’s unique or of low-cost to you.

What you see or other believers say are your strengths?
Consider your strengths from both an internal perspective, and from the point of view of those you relate with.

Weaknesses

“For we are glad, when we are weak, and ye are strong: and this also we wish, even your perfection.” 2 Corinthians 13:9

  • What could you improve?
  • What should you avoid?
  • What are other believers likely to see as weaknesses?
  • What factors lose you faith?
  • Do other believers seem to perceive weaknesses that you don’t see?

It’s best to be realistic now, and face any unpleasant truths as soon as possible. “For we can do nothing against the truth, but for the truth.” 2 Corinthians 13:8

Opportunities

  • What good opportunities can you spot?
  • What interesting trends are you aware of?

Useful opportunities can come from such things as: prayer, fellowship, reading your bible, etc.
Threats

“Now I pray to God that ye do no evil…that ye should do that which is honest…” 2 Corinthians 13:7

  • What obstacles do you face?
  • Where do they come from?

Could any of your weaknesses seriously threaten your faith?

1 Corinthians 15:33-34 says,

“Be not deceived: evil communications corrupt good manners. [34] Awake to righteousness, and sin not; for some have not the knowledge of God: I speak this to your shame.”

“Finally, brethren, farewell. Be perfect, be of good comfort, be of one mind, live in peace; and the God of love and peace shall be with you.” 2 Corinthians 13:11

Give yourselves regular checkups.

Test yourselves to make sure you are solid in the faith. Don’t drift along taking everything for granted.

“The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Ghost, be with you all. Amen.” 2 Corinthians 13:14
