What wilt thou?
“Then came to him the mother of Zebedee’s children with her sons, worshipping him, and desiring a certain thing of him.” Matthew 20:20
What is your request?
The woman replied, “In your Kingdom, will you let my two sons sit on two thrones next to yours?”
Jesus replied, “You don’t know what you are asking” because only tyrants exercise lordship. “But among you it is quite different. Anyone wanting to be a leader among you must be your servant. And if you want to be right at the top, you must serve like a slave.” Matthew 20:26-27
Many believers still don’t know what purpose Jesus came both to do and to serve as a result most of their petitions are misplaced. The reason this woman worshipped him was because she had a desire. Com’on folks, God is not mocked – “…true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him. God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth” (John 4:23-24). It’s okay to have requests but know that’s not the reason why we seek God.
Now is the time to make our attitudes right, and match it with his, “who did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”
It is wrong to arouse people’s faith in a wrong way. I would wish every believer that they know what Jesus Christ both came to do and to serve. Listen to want He said;
He said he came to minister and to give his life a ransom for many, “…but to sit on my right hand, and on my left, is not mine to give…” Yes you heard him right, it’s not for him to give you material wealth. He said, “Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid” (John 14:27). Exercising dominion and authority does not serve the purposes God, “For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost.” Romans 14:17
Good nyt folks,
