“Consider and hear me, O LORD my God; Enlighten my eyes, Lest I sleep the sleep of death; Lest my enemy say, “I have prevailed against him”; Lest those who trouble me rejoice when I am moved.” Psalm 13:3
There isn’t anything wrong in asking God these type of questions, but probably lack of confidence is what would prevent you from seeking answers.
There are many reasons why one wouldn’t ask God, mostly it’s because people are less convinced God will answer them, or is lack of trust. But you, never stop asking questions until you get the right answers.
David was never the type that would bottle up. Listen to what he said, “Answer me, O Lord my God; give me light in my darkness lest I die.” vs 3.
Sad, many of us continue to walk in darkness, paying no attention to whether God is with us or not. Don’t do that mistake yourself, for because of that reason many do end up following men or every wind of doctrine. Don’t go to church out of respect for other people but go because you’ve found him the woman of Samaria testified of saying, “He told me all that ever I did.”
James 2:9 says, “But if ye have respect to persons, ye commit sin, and are convinced of the law as transgressors.” David said, “Consider and hear me, O Lord my God: lighten mine eyes, lest I sleep the sleep of death…” Psalm 13:3
David said, give me light in my darkness, and he just got it. Listen to this;
“But I have trusted in thy mercy; my heart shall rejoice in thy salvation. I will sing unto the Lord, because he hath dealt bountifully with me.” Psalm 13:5-6
I have trusted in thy mercy!
You got to know this, God has indeed blessed you bountifully in his mercy, there’s no reason to doubt yourself in God for, “a double minded man is unstable in all his ways. For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord.” James 1:8,7
Hebrews 4:16 says, “Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.”
You got to know something; “All the paths of the Lord are mercy and truth unto such as keep his covenant and his testimonies.” Psalm 25:10
David realised that mercy, kindness, lovingkindness follows him and that it’s also God’s desire to bless and be his defence.
Like David, trust in the mercy of God, because he has dealt bountifully with you. When you received Jesus Christ as Saviour, you received mercy from God and you are delivered from judgment. Instead of judgment, you received by grace salvation, forgiveness of sins, abundant life (John 10:10), and eternal life.
Because you received mercy and grace of God, your response should be to fall on your knees in worship and thanksgiving. David said, “I will sing unto the Lord, because he hath dealt bountifully with me.” Psalm 13:6.
And again Hebrews 4:16 also says, “Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.”
