Perfecting holiness in the fear of God.
“Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.” 2 Corinthians 7:1
These promises are none other than that of the grace of God operating in us, and therefore it’s vital to understand what this grace can do for you.
1 Corinthians 1:3-7 says,
“Grace be unto you, and peace, from God our Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ. I thank my God always on your behalf, for the grace of God which is given you by Jesus Christ; That in every thing ye are enriched by him, in all utterance, and in all knowledge; Even as the testimony of Christ was confirmed in you: So that ye come behind in no gift; waiting for the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.”
Now concerning grace, it is that you’re invited by God himself to be his, however you’re already accepted – made acceptable to him by Christ Jesus our Lord , with every blessing; every spiritual gift and power – which is grace!
The other promise is, God is saying the doors of welcome are wide open, (2 Corinthians 6:2)
1. behold, now is the accepted time;
2. behold, now is the day of salvation.
It’s a favorable moment, when you can cry to him and he can hear you, and He is ready to welcome you, and he is ready to save you right now.
One other promise is he wants to dwell in you;
“…for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.” 2 Corinthians 6:16
The other promise is about your comfort and consolation throughout those periods of hardship;
“Nevertheless God, that comforteth those that are cast down, comforted us…” 2 Corinthians 7:6
He comforts us by dwelling in us, and walk in us; and being our God, and us becoming his people.
Allow me again to reiterate this verse 2 Corinthians 7:1. “Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.”
“…as deceivers, and yet true;
 As unknown, and yet well known; as dying, and, behold, we live;
as chastened, and not killed;
 As sorrowful, yet alway rejoicing; as poor, yet making many rich;
as having nothing, and yet possessing all things.” 2 Corinthians 6:8-10
