Do all that is within your power to persue peace.
However, you also should know that you cannot make peace at the expense of truth and righteousness. What that means is there are some people with whom it is impossible to make peace with.
“…if the unbelieving depart, let him depart. A brother or a sister is not under bondage in such cases : but God hath called us to peace.” 1 Corinthians 7:15
God does not hold you responsible for the sinful failures of other people. But you yourself should not stir up strive, whatsoever.
As a believer you should know how to deal with your own sins before you can endeavour to make others overcome their own sins. Get the log out of your own eye first. Face up to the root of your own sins; repent and biblically seek forgiveness for whatever fault you may have and then be ready also to forgive or help others as God would’ve forgiven you.
Forgiveness is not optional for forgiven people, especially when you are a believer.
Here is what it is to forgive; you stop thinking about the incident, don’t bring the same issue back again to use it against the person you said you have forgiven. Also, you stop talking to other people about it, or to give reference to it. Don’t allow this incident to stand between you and the person you said you’ve already forgiven.
But what you do hence forth is promote peace between yourselves, ask God for enablement – wisdom and grace to build a sound relationship. “Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.” Matthew 5:9
