Last time we looked at “Feed my lambs.”
And, “He saith to him again the second time, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me? He saith unto him, Yea, Lord; thou knowest that I love thee. He saith unto him, Feed my sheep.” John 21:16
Our aim is to provide believers with the opportunity to work in self-defined ways in their walk of faith, it is that they may live in a more satisfying and resourceful way as Christians, or as members of the body of Christ.
Believers need to feel safe and secure for them to explore and develop insight into their own faith, issues and concerns. And to feel safe there is need that they also feel comfortable with us. The relationship must be based on trust, empathy, congruence and unconditional positivity.
Feed my sheep; be they individuals, families or groups. What that means is know them! Know our sheep have specific problems which they also need resolved, and Isaiah 61 speaks it all. They need help with decision making, and coping with crisis, improving relationships, and developmental issues. Promote and develop their own personal awarenesses, work with their feelings, thoughts, perceptions and internal and external conflicts also. The overall aim is to provide them with opportunities to work in self-defined ways, and with that I mean they should lack nothing profitable, satisfying and resourceful for personal Christian growth.
Ask yourself why these people come to you; it’s for insight, for relationships, for self-awareness, self-acceptance, self-actualization, enlightenment, problem-solving, etc.
