The just shall live by faith

Paul wrote to the Romans;

“So, as much as in me is, I am ready to preach the gospel to you that are at Rome also. For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek. For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith. For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness; Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed it unto them. For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse: Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened. Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools, And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things. Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves: Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen.” Romans 1:15-25

Few points to take note of from the above scripture;

  • the gospel of Christ is the power of God unto salvation for everyone who believes;
  • The just shall live by faith;
  • the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness;

Repeat this after me, and say,

  1. Because that which may be known of God is manifest in me; for God hath shown it to me.
  2.  Say, for the invisible things of Him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead;
  3. Again say, “Jesus Christ: Whom having not seen, I love; in whom, though now I see him not, yet believing, I rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory.”

The created universe reveals the existence of God. That is an objective fact.

Our world today is an educated world, and many of our children go to university don’t they? However, if we don’t teach our children the right stuff concerning the kingdom of God and the name of Christ we are in danger of losing our kids to other religions and philosophical systems of beliefs, and reason out there these days. People out there to prey on your children, and if they find them empty you will lose them. I’ve just issued a statement saying The Church lost some of its finest preachers to politics, and God isn’t at all happy about it believe you me.

Often times the unclean spirit finds our kids empty, swept and garnished. And while at university the unclean spirit, with seven more other wicked ones “enter in and dwell there, and the last state of that man is worse than the first. Even so shall it be also unto this wicked generation” (Matthew 12:43-45). It is a wicked generation. The parent is puzzled – who did it, they ask, who has planted the wrong seed? The enemy did it while you were asleep. Parents sleep, and leave their kids to play drama in Church. But the Hebrew children are not like so – they memorise the whole Torah. Proverbs 22:6 says, “Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.”

Jesus said, “Even so shall it be also unto this wicked generation.” He talked about the unclean spirit, and the seven more wicked ones who are ready to enter in and dwell in an empty and garnished heart. The spirit out there these days is deadly. Jesus once rebuked his disciples (James and John) saying, “Ye know not what manner of spirit ye are of.” (Luke 9:53-55). The whole business of unclean spirits is to influence. Atheism say there is no God, Polytheism say there are many gods, Materialism (denies the reality of the spirit), Pantheism (all is God), Deism (natural law), Rationalism (reasoning), Pessimism (evil), Evolution (history). And what’s the child to believe when he or she has not been trained well?

Anyway Paul says, “I am ready to preach the gospel to you that are at Rome also. For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth…”

The gospel of Christ is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth. Here is why you believe the gospel; it is because it is invisible; you don’t see it – It is spirit and alive. “By faith he [Moses] forsook Egypt, not fearing the wrath of the king: for he endured, as seeing him who is invisible” (Hebrews 11:27). If you could see Christ now, then we wouldn’t be talking of faith. “Therefore it is of faith, that it might be by grace; to the end the promise might be sure to all the seed; not to that only which is of the law, but to that also which is of the faith of Abraham; who is the father of us all,” Romans 4:16

Say, “Jesus Christ: Whom having not seen, I love; in whom, though now I see him not, yet believing, I rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory.

I hear Paul say,

“But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him. But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God. For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God. Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God. Which things also we speak, not in the words which man’s wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual. But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. But he that is spiritual judgeth all things, yet he himself is judged of no man. For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him? But we have the mind of Christ.” 1 Corinthians 2:9-16

  • the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God.

It is the Spirit of God that teaches us to know God; comparing spiritual things with spiritual. God reveals them to us by his spirit; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God. The things which pertains to the kingdom of God are spiritually discerned. Jesus said, “God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth” (John 4:24). Man by wisdom cannot know God, but we have the mind of Christ.

He said, “the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.” We’ve all these philosophical beliefs, (Atheism, Polytheism, Materialism, Pantheism, Deism, Rationalism, Pessimism, Evolution) and all to prove man by wisdom cannot know God, but we have the mind of Christ.

What is pastor talking about?

If you’re not taught well; you end up worshipping and serving a creature more than your Creator, who is blessed for ever. You end up changing the glory of the incorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, forgetting that God is a Spirit. Paul said, “The just shall live by faith. Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools…”

Paul said, “I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ,” and the fact that he’s a Spirit, he’s invisible, you can’t see him with your naked eyes should be taken lightly. However to you it should demonstrate the power of God, not weakness. That should be “the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth…for therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith.” What does he say to Thomas? “Jesus saith unto him, Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed: blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed.” John 20:29

And again Paul says, “So, as much as in me is, I am ready to preach the gospel to you…” Not that I should change “the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things. Not that I should hold the truth in unrighteousness! Not that I should change the truth of God into a lie, and worship and serve the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen.

We catch up later

God bless,
