Do you know what style of of communication reaches best to your spouse?
It’s neither gifts nor acts but communication. Use your speech to build up your relationship. “Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord; Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ; Submitting yourselves one to another in the fear of God.” Ephesians 5:19-21
Wow, isn’t that good? “Submitting yourselves one to another in the fear of God.”
Anyway speak about the best things; “whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.” Philippians 4:8
Lies are communication killers, same as appearing busy for nothing. Busy with tv, phone, whatsapp, friends, and even church.
Also I’ve seen many good marriages suffer or even collapse due to destructive or unsafe speeches; anger, cruelty, and hurtful words. Many so because of selfishness or self-centredness; not listening, interrupting, monopolising,hasty speech, unnecessary correction and boasting. Proverbs 18:12 says, “Before destruction the heart of man is haughty, and before honour is humility.”
Nagging is ungodly, and negativity and grumbling. “It is better to dwell in the corner of the housetop, than with a brawling woman and in a wide house.” (Proverbs 25:24). Bullying, threatening and manipulating is not a 21st Christian value.
Now listen to this, that I may go to sleep;
“A naughty person, a wicked man, walketh with a froward mouth. He winketh with his eyes, he speaketh with his feet, he teacheth with his fingers; Frowardness is in his heart, he deviseth mischief continually; he soweth discord. Therefore shall his calamity come suddenly; suddenly shall he be broken without remedy.” Proverbs 6:12-15
Refuse to be a naught person, such as one who refuses to communicate with your spouse, clamming up, side tracking, and such as avoid others. “Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up, Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil” (1 Corinthians 13:4-5). Communicate!
Good nyt folks,
