I’ll build my Church

“Who is left among you that saw this house in her first glory? and how do ye see it now? is it not in your eyes in comparison of it as nothing? Yet now be strong, O Zerubbabel, saith the Lord ; and be strong, O Joshua, son of Josedech, the high priest; and be strong, all ye people of the land, saith the Lord , and work: for I am with you, saith the Lord of hosts” (Haggai 2:3-4).

Who is left among you that saw this house in her first glory? and how do ye see it now? Is it not in your eyes in comparison of it as nothing?

Church has to be better now than it was before. If in it’s past circumstances is may be preferable then something is wrong with the present church, for now we have obtained a more excellent ministry, with a better covenant, established upon better promises.

When born in a system, you think things have always been like that you see. Believers have a problem of accepting whatever is presented to them, and there is no room for manoeuvre. If you’re born in a church, you’ll accept whatever is there already, and it’ll remain the case all your life, no matter how weird the status quo. They’ll teach you, these are our ways, and you must conform to it. It’s a caste system, there is virtually no opportunities to improve your potential. But not so when you know history, you refuse to be comforted. The truth is not even even long ago people used to enjoy church, they used to have all things in common.

Haggai was confronted with the same status quo and he asked, “Who is left among you that saw this house in her first glory?” A few people probably lifted up their hands? And he continued, “how do ye see it now? Is it not in your eyes in comparison of it as nothing?

At this point I want to believe those who knew the first church broke down and sobbed, saying, alas, “The glory is departed from Israel: because the ark of God was taken…” ( 1 Samuel 4:21).

Believers should inherit not only our ways in the Lord but also His perfect will, i.e., genuine faith towards God. Faith is a lifestyle that’s supposed to be passed on, and you that believe should be allowed to compare this glory with that glory, and scripture by scripture. Parents tend to pass their faith position on their children and so should Church. But sometimes I ask myself concerning churches, what really is being passed on? Is it truth? Philippians 4:8 says, “Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.

“And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Bar-jona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven. And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven” (Matthew 16:17-19).

See how Jesus dreamt about his church; that it is going to be key for your success, both spiritually and physically. How do you see it now? Is it not in your eyes in comparison of it as nothing, if the believer still hasn’t attained to what he promised? Church is a place where you that believe should command wealth, power and a great deal of attention. It should guide you in your life choices, i.e., in regard to factors like wealth, income, education and occupation, and same spiritually. If not so then it isn’t serving it’s purpose.

God bless,

Laurence

What ministry do you help in your church?

Bible verse of the day

Ye shall walk after the Lord your God, and fear him, and keep his commandments, and obey his voice, and ye shall serve him, and cleave unto him.
