In modern day churches it’s common that you will find believers;
- who judge other believers
- who look down on other believers
- who criticise other believers
- who put stumbling blocks for other believers
- who frame other believers
- who destroy other believers
But looking at what is argued would you say that’s what he wanted his church to be? Do you call that faith, the kind of faith that God would like?
Romans 14:1 says, “Give a warm welcome to any brother who wants to join you, even though his faith is weak. Don’t criticize him for having different ideas from yours about what is right and wrong.”
He then asked, “Hast thou faith? have it to thyself before God,” (Rom 14:22). This boasting of faith, visions, revelations is all foolish – instead have it to thyself before God. No matter your gift; “every one of us shall give account of himself to God.” Romans 14:12
- God has not sent you to be lord over any one, whatsoever!
“Who art thou that judgest another man’s servant? to his own master he standeth or falleth. Yea, he shall be holden up: for God is able to make him stand.” Romans 14:4
- simply speaking they are God’s servants, not yours. He is able to make them do as they should. We’ve no right to judge nobody!
“But why dost thou judge thy brother? or why dost thou set at nought thy brother? for we shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ.” Romans 14:10
“Let us not therefore judge one another any more: but judge this rather, that no man put a stumblingblock or an occasion to fall in his brother’s way.” Romans 14:13
- weak as we’re God has accepted us
Romans 8:33 -39 says, “Who dares accuse us whom God has chosen for his own? Will God? No! He is the one who has forgiven us and given us right standing with himself. Who then will condemn us? Will Christ? No! For he is the one who died for us and came back to life again for us and is sitting at the place of highest honor next to God, pleading for us there in heaven. Who then can ever keep Christ’s love from us? When we have trouble or calamity, when we are hunted down or destroyed, is it because he doesn’t love us anymore? And if we are hungry or penniless or in danger or threatened with death, has God deserted us? No, for the Scriptures tell us that for his sake we must be ready to face death at every moment of the day-we are like sheep awaiting slaughter; but despite all this, overwhelming victory is ours through Christ who loved us enough to die for us. For I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from his love. Death can’t, and life can’t. The angels won’t, and all the powers of hell itself cannot keep God’s love away. Our fears for today, our worries about tomorrow, or where we are-high above the sky, or in the deepest ocean-nothing will ever be able to separate us from the love of God demonstrated by our Lord Jesus Christ when he died for us.”
- “Let us therefore follow after the things which make for peace, and things wherewith one may edify another.” Romans 14:19
that’s the whole duty of every believer – follow after the things which make for peace.
