Stand up for mine help.

Stand up for mine help.

“All my bones shall say, Lord , who is like unto thee, which deliverest the poor from him that is too strong for him, yea, the poor and the needy from him that spoileth him?” Psalm 35:10

God should be the one fighting in your corner in this life were battling the enemy is inevitable, and the devil is the only one capable of spoiling you. Don’t just assume God is fighting in your corner but know it that He certainly is.

David said, “Plead my cause, O Lord, with them that strive with me: fight against them that fight against me. Take hold of shield and buckler, and stand up for mine help” (Psalm 35:1-2). In verse 3 he pleaded with God, “say unto my soul, I am thy salvation.” Moses also said the same, “If thy presence go not with me , carry us not up hence” (Exodus 33:15). I like this, “These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God. And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us: And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him.” 1 John 5:13-15.

Pretence, or “hypocritical mockers in feasts” as David sees it, is it causing a whole lot of deceptions to thrive in the Church. But the Apostle is saying above; this is the confidence that we have in him; 1st, we know, 2nd, we believe that he hear us, “whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him.”

David prayed, “Lord, how long wilt thou look on? rescue my soul from their destructions, my darling from the lions” “Psalm 35:17). No one moment God should look on you and be silent. “This thou hast seen, O Lord : keep not silence: O Lord, be not far from me” (Psalm 35:22). Your soul is the most precious thing you should safeguard, “Let not them that are mine enemies wrongfully rejoice over me: neither let them wink with the eye that hate me without a cause” (Psalm 35:19). Nothing whatsoever you should allow to come too close to dig for your soul. “For without cause have they hid for me their net in a pit, which without cause they have digged for my soul” (Psalm 35:7).

Who should stand up for your help? The Lord who is your shield and buckler, is he who should stand up for your help. “Let them not say in their hearts, Ah, so would we have it: let them not say, We have swallowed him up. Let them be ashamed and brought to confusion together that rejoice at mine hurt: let them be clothed with shame and dishonour that magnify themselves against me.” Psalm 35:25-26
