I hear many theories on what believers call Enemies. Strange how we get confused and confuse ourselves.
Your real enemy is of course the devil, and anything or anyone who for no reason is bent on hurting your feelings or destroying you. I said anyone, and this could mean anyone, or you can be your own enemy too. “Peter said, Ananias, why hath Satan filled thine heart to lie to the Holy Ghost, and to keep back part of the price of the land? Whiles it remained, was it not thine own? and after it was sold, was it not in thine own power? why hast thou conceived this thing in thine heart? thou hast not lied unto men, but unto God. And Ananias hearing these words fell down, and gave up the ghost: and great fear came on all them that heard these things.” Acts 5:3-5
David said concerning his enemies, those people who had come to kill him, “They lurk in ambush for my life. Strong men are out there waiting. And not, O Lord, because I’ve done them wrong. Yet they prepare to kill me. Lord, waken! See what is happening! Help me!” Psalm 59:3-4
Enemies wish to do you harm, and that can’t be right if would not wish back for them too.
Are you able to recognise who your enemies are? What’s your desire concerning your enemies? David while in trouble said, ”My God is changeless in his love for me, and he will come and help me. He will let me see my wish come true upon my enemies.” Psalm 59:10
I don’t know what your wish is for your enemies, but whatever it is God will let you see your wish come true concerning your enemies. David said, “Slay them not, lest my people forget: scatter them by thy power; and bring them down, O Lord our shield” (Psalm 59:11). He said;
- let them even be taken in their pride.
- let them know that God ruleth in Jacob unto the ends of the earth.
- let them wander up and down for meat, and grudge if they be not satisfied.
David chose a unique route of love, rather than say kill them Lord. Jesus said “Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you.” Matthew 5:44
Say this, the desires of the righteous shall be granted!
“But thou, O Lord, shalt laugh at them; thou shalt have all the heathen in derision.” Psalm 59:8
Fear ye not folks, God is your defence, He also is the God of your mercy. He will defend, and deliver you from all workers of iniquity, and will save you from blood thirst men.
Say, O my God, save me from my enemies.
