Spiritual Warfare – God that performeth all things for me!

Few days ago, I said Jesus warned His disciples, “…beware of men…” (Matthew 10:17). The warning includes everyone; good men, bad men, Christians, none Christians, churchgoers and none churchgoers alike – Beware of Men!

The Psalmist wrote, “My soul is among lions: and I lie even among them that are set on fire, even the sons of men, whose teeth are spears and arrows, and their tongue a sharp sword.” Psalm 57:4

He says, my soul is among lions!

Please don’t be deceived by appearance, men are also creatures. God said, “I the Lord search the heart, I try the reins, even to give every man according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings” (Jeremiah 17:10). The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?

The sons of men, whose teeth are spears and arrows, and their tongue a sharp sword sometimes behave like beasts set on fire. Think of how many people have died because of “the sons of men;” in Syria, Iraq, Libya, etc? Think of the hypocrisy even in church. In case you’re not convinced, and feel yourself excluded; Romans 3:9-18 says, “What then? are we better than they ? No, in no wise: for we have before proved both Jews and Gentiles, that they are all under sin; As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one: There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God. They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; there is none that doeth good, no, not one. Their throat is an open sepulchre; with their tongues they have used deceit; the poison of asps is under their lips: Whose mouth is full of cursing and bitterness: Their feet are swift to shed blood: Destruction and misery are in their ways: And the way of peace have they not known: There is no fear of God before their eyes.” Typical men ain’t we?

Jesus said, “For if they do these things in a green tree, what shall be done in the dry?” (Luke 23:31). In Romans chapter 1 we see men trying to conform God to their own image. We see man attempting to make God in his own likeness. Man wanting to change the order of creation; worshipping the god of his own conception, which is really only an extension of himself. We see man taking the doctrines of the Bible and twisting them to suit the image of the god which man has set up in his own mind. Man has an insatiable urge to project himself into the work of God and mold it according to his own idea. Beware of man, he’s desperately wicked.

Thus, “. . . beware of men…” for man can swallow you up. David says, “They have prepared a net for my steps; my soul is bowed down: they have digged a pit before me, into the midst whereof they are fallen themselves . Selah.” Psalm 57:6

How do they themselves fall in their own pits? Cry aloud, spare not; make your requests be made known to the Lord.

Psalm 57:2 says, “I will cry unto God most high; unto God that performeth all things for me.” Hallelujah!

The storm is past – be not afraid

O God…yea, in the shadow of thy wings will I make my refuge, until these calamities be overpast.” Psalm 57:1

God is able to rescue you from all these evil workers who are so bent upon destroying you – His faithfulness is higher than the skies.

He said through Isaiah the prophet, “Behold, I have created the smith that bloweth the coals in the fire, and that bringeth forth an instrument for his work; and I have created the waster to destroy. No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord , and their righteousness is of me, saith the Lord .” Isaiah 54:16-17

God bless,
