Today I posted on my Facebook group a post I know caused a great deal of confusion.
I wrote some achievements or accomplishments reveal how some believers are motivated by a love for the world, idolatry or human glory than they’re for the things of God. While the statement is true yet I want you to see something that could be influencing that. It’s not because people are more evil but the fact is society is changing, and yourself should find a balance out of it.
“And he changeth the times and the seasons: he removeth kings, and setteth up kings: he giveth wisdom unto the wise, and knowledge to them that know understanding” (Daniel 2:21).
Life is changing fast such that the long established traditions don’t anymore apply to us. We have a tendency to study God’s word but then ignore the behaviour and culture of the society we are in that the 21st century is not same as Hunter, Pastoral, Horticultural, Agricultural or Feudal era. These were replaced by capitalism and industrial era which also faded away. People including believers became more focused on acquisition of wealth and achieving upward mobility for themselves and their families. People wanted their children and grandchildren to continue to rise to the top, and as capitalism increased, so did social mobility. 18th and 19th century life changed completely with the introduction of new technologies, and worse in the 21st century with the rise of digitization and socialization. Social classes are divided by access to education, without it means there is means for success.
Jesus taught us how to understand social change when he said, “As for these things which ye behold, the days will come, in the which there shall not be left one stone upon another, that shall not be thrown down” (Luke 21:6). Also in he said, “Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not commit adultery: But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart” (Matthew 5:27-28). Society is changing fast, don’t be left behind like Lot who just didn’t understand social change.
Understanding the times in which we live.
“The woman saith unto him, Sir, I perceive that thou art a prophet. Our fathers worshipped in this mountain; and ye say, that in Jerusalem is the place where men ought to worship. Jesus saith unto her, Woman, believe me, the hour cometh, when ye shall neither in this mountain, nor yet at Jerusalem, worship the Father. But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him. God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth” (John 4:19-21,23-24).
Any society needs culture to exist but as believers know which cultural values you’ve to hold on to. “God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth” The rule of the Lord is spiritual, natural, and over all – he governs the affairs of his creation, and for his pleasure they’re created.
God bless you folks,
