“Grace be with you, mercy, and peace, from God the Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of the Father, in truth and love.” 2 John 1:3
Since the Truth is in our hearts;
The Ethiopian eunuch said to Philip, “What doth hinder me to be baptized?”
But before we can experience all the graces of God, Truth must first dwell in you, and remain in your heart forever.
Jesus said, “If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you. Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; so shall ye be my disciples.” John 15:7-8
“Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.” John 5:24
And again in John 14:12-15
Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father. And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it. If ye love me, keep my commandments.
Back to 2 John, the Apostle John is saying to this, “elect lady and her children,” since God’s truth is in you; it is God that is able to bless you with great mercy and much peace according to his abundance grace working in you.
However, as for “now I beseech thee, lady, not as though I wrote a new commandment unto thee, but that which we had from the beginning, that we love one another.” 2 John 1:5
Endeavour the most, “for the truth’s sake, which dwelleth in us, and shall be with us for ever.” to walk in truth and fulfil the royal law.
“And this is love, that we walk after his commandments. This is the commandment, That, as ye have heard from the beginning, ye should walk in it.” 2 John 1:6
This is the commandment; that we walk in truth and love. If we honestly love God, we will then do whatever he tells us to.
“For God commanded, saying, Honour thy father and mother: and, He that curseth father or mother, let him die the death.” Matthew 15:4
Don’t treat them as if they’re your gifts. Instead “render therefore to all their dues: tribute to whom tribute is due ; custom to whom custom; fear to whom fear; honour to whom honour.” Romans 13:7
It’s no coincidence that this epistle was also addressed to a woman; “For many deceivers are entered into the world, who confess not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh. This is a deceiver and an antichrist.” (2 John 1:7).
Motherhood should always be celebrated
Remember, Christ came in the flesh, meaning he was born of a woman. Therefore, “Withhold not good from them to whom it is due, when it is in the power of thine hand to do it.” (Proverbs 3:27). Antichrist teaches you to do otherwise, as if He, Christ dropped from heaven. “Look to yourselves, that we lose not those things which we have wrought, but that we receive a full reward.” 2 John 1:8. See to it that you also win your full reward from the Lord, nothing should get in the way.
Who is antichrist?
Antichrist is anyone not loyal to Christ, who is happy to compromise and to bring you another doctrine other that of Christ.
Whosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father and the Son. If there come any unto you, and bring not this doctrine, receive him not into your house, neither bid him God speed: For he that biddeth him God speed is partaker of his evil deeds.
2 John 1:9-11
As a believer make it your priority to abide in the doctrine of Christ. Remember he said, “If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.”
