What a terrible thing it is that in churches we preach about holiness, sanctification, and righteousness and yet sometimes we let unspiritual things to happen.
For instance Paul says, “It is actually reported that there is sexual immorality among you, and such sexual immorality as is not even named among the Gentiles…”1 Corinthians 5:1
Think of what’s reported about your Church that even leaders themselves amass social media with the unfruitful works of darkness. Every week now you gotta hear something, shameful even to mention here what they do; sexual immorality, covetousness, idolatry, revelry, drunkenness, extortion, you name it.
Although people talk about it and report, no one seems to care. That’s the problem with church these days, we look at such issues and are not moved at all. I am reminded of a group, ‘We stand with the prophet no matter what.” That’s how some believers are prepared to compromise – no matter the damage caused!
Then I ask myself, what should really break our hearts? Sexual immorality should, covetousness, idolatry, revelry, drunkenness, and obtaining money through dubious ways should also.
But nobody seems to care, even the affected believers themselves
“…are puffed up, and have not rather mourned, that he that hath done this deed might be taken away from among you.” 1 Corinthians 5:2
Why’ve church tolerated? I’ve no better explanation than this; “But Saul and the people spared Agag, and the best of the sheep, and of the oxen, and of the fatlings, and the lambs, and all that was good, and would not utterly destroy them: but every thing that was vile and refuse, that they destroyed utterly.” 1 Samuel 15:9.
Every one deemed vile and refuse, are the ones that are destroyed. As for the best of the sheep they will find the means to cover up their sins.
But Paul says in 1 Corinthians 5:3-5, “… I verily, as absent in body, but present in spirit, have judged already, as though I were present, concerning him that hath so done this deed, In the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, when ye are gathered together, and my spirit, with the power of our Lord Jesus Christ, To deliver such an one unto Satan for the destruction of the flesh, that the spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus.”
I am happy he said, “…In the name of our Lord Jesus Christ..deliver such an one unto Satan …”
It doesn’t matter it’s Agag, the best of the sheep, and of the oxen, and of the fatlings, and the lambs, and all that was good, if they’ve sinned, “deliver such an one unto Satan for the destruction of the flesh, that the spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus.”
Don’t you realize that if even one person is allowed to go on sinning, soon all will be affected?
“Therefore purge out the old leaven, that you may be a new lump, since you truly are unleavened. For indeed Christ, our Passover, was sacrificed for us. Therefore let us keep the feast, not with old leaven, nor with the leaven of malice and wickedness, but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth.” 1 Corinthians 5:7-8
