“You may as well know this too, Timothy, that in the last days it is going to be very difficult to be a Christian. For people will love only themselves and their money; they will be proud and boastful, sneering at God, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful to them, and thoroughly bad.” 2 Timothy 3:1 – 2 TLB
In the last days it is going to be very difficult to be a Christian. You heard me right, it has never been easy. The thing is people will love only themselves, their money and competing with others; they will be proud and boastful, disobedient, ungrateful, will be thoroughly bad, and above all sneering at God.
It’s not surprising because some of this is already happening, confusion others whether if it’s the end of times.
“…evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived.” 2 Timothy 3:13
“For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God?” 1 Peter 4:17
In Luke 21:29-31, “…he spake to them a parable; Behold the fig tree, and all the trees; When they now shoot forth, ye see and know of your own selves that summer is now nigh at hand. So likewise ye, when ye see these things come to pass, know ye that the kingdom of God is nigh at hand.”
How are we going to know it’s the end of times? Look at the fig tree – the Church?
James asked, “Can the fig tree, my brethren, bear olive berries? either a vine, figs? so can no fountain both yield salt water and fresh.” James 3:12
The church is bearing olive berries. In some countries politicians are much better than some man of the cloth.
Never did Christ dreamt of a church with people that love only themselves and their money; “covetous, boasters, proud, self-promoting, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy…” vs 2
And grieving the Holy Ghost;
“Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God.” 2 Timothy 3:3-4
In the last days, they’ll make a show of religion, no true love for God;
“Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.” 2 Timothy 3:5
False prophets will take advantage of unstable christians, and needy women; women and men also who are depressed by their sinfulness.
“For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts, Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.” 2 Timothy 3:6-7
- ‘women’ only means the weak
“Now as Jannes and Jambres withstood Moses, so do these also resist the truth: men of corrupt minds, reprobate concerning the faith. But they shall proceed no further: for their folly shall be manifest unto all men , as theirs also was.
2 Timothy 3:8 – 9
People resists truth concerning the faith only when their minds are corrupted by Jannes and Jambres, a spirit that’s there these days.
