“My soul shall be satisfied as with marrow and fatness; and my mouth shall praise thee with joyful lips: When I remember thee upon my bed, and meditate on thee in the night watches. Because thou hast been my help, therefore in the shadow of thy wings will I rejoice. My soul followeth hard after thee: thy right hand upholdeth me.” Psalm 63:5-8
The reason you’re looking for God is because of your soul, you want Him to satisfy your spiritual needs. That is why you go to church, (to his sanctuary) it is so that your soul may find him, and see his strength and glory. Upon this point Isaiah 45:19 says, “I have not spoken in secret, in a dark place of the earth: I said not unto the seed of Jacob, Seek ye me in vain: I the Lord speak righteousness, I declare things that are right.” And here David also says my soul follows hard after you [God] because your right hand upholds me, because I’ve seen you, and because you’ve been my help. It is for this reason that I remember you upon my bed, and meditate on you in the night watches.
If you see God this way, that he’s your help; you will not be pushed to pray, but will find yourself meditating, it wouldn’t matter where.
We search, seek and follow so hard after God because in this world there is no water that can satisfy our need the way God does. “Jesus answered and said unto her, Whosoever drinketh of this water shall thirst again: But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life. The woman saith unto him, Sir, give me this water, that I thirst not, neither come hither to draw” (John 4:13-15). Who’s your source of help? David said, “O God, thou art my God; early will I seek thee: my soul thirsteth for thee, my flesh longeth for thee in a dry and thirsty land, where no water is” (Psalm 63:1). You don’t wait for him to say Adam, Adam where are you?
This same water you need my friend; water that shall be in you “a well of water springing up into everlasting life.” Water, not that the world or religion gives, but whosoever will drink of the water that he gives he/she will never thirst again. David said, I follow hard after you that my soul may be satisfied as with marrow and fatness; and my mouth shall praise thee with joyful lips, “Because thy lovingkindness is better than life, my lips shall praise thee” (Psalm 63:3). Joy comes in the morning, and that right early.
Following hard after him will gladden your heart, it’ll leave you with a feeling of laughter, pleasure and happiness.
“…rejoice in God;
every one that sweareth by him shall glory…” Psalm 63:11
