My sheep; am known of mine!

“I am the good shepherd, and know my sheep , and am known of mine.” John 10:14

Once or twice, sheep wiĺl struggle, and in a bid to help sometimes shepherds worsen the situation. However, quickly sow wound and move on. People come to us mostly for comfort.  Isa 61:6 says, “…ye shall be named the Priests of the Lord : men shall call you the Ministers of our God…” Why is that? Because you preach good tidings unto the meek; you bind up the brokenhearted, you proclaim liberty to the captives, and you open prison doors  to them that are bound. You comfort all that mourn; giving them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the Lord, that he might be glorified.

I like verse 4, “And they shall build the old wastes, they shall raise up the former desolations, and they shall repair the waste cities, the desolations of many generations.” Some of the people we minister to have long been damaged but the Lord planted both you and me in this generation, that they may hope again in Him.

“And other sheep I have, which are not of this fold: them also I must bring, and they shall hear my voice; and there shall be one fold, and one shepherd.” John 10:16

Let’s go get them, and bring them to this fold. But we got to get going, and move fast.

These sheep are high up on the fells where the land meets the sky. It’s a serious business to push sheep home – never easy. On a bid to do so many shepherds have driven their sheep further away, to other churches or down the cliff. That’s the mistake we should try to avoid – we want to bring them home safe, and to our fold. We accomplish this when we work together – and create more folds. It takes the few of us to do so, and it requires everyone to work more or less as a team. Isaiah 60:21-22 says, “Thy people also shall be all righteous: they shall inherit the land for ever, the branch of my planting, the work of my hands, that I may be glorified. A little one shall become a thousand, and a small one a strong nation: I the Lord will hasten it in his time.” What that means is, yes we can!

There is no reason we cannot have church in every town, or a house group in every suburb near our sheep.

We want people to join us? Then let’s create them folds, let’s dig more wells everywhere.

God bless,
