In his favour is life.

In his favour is life.

“Thou hast turned for me my mourning into dancing: thou hast put off my sackcloth, and girded me with gladness; To the end that my glory may sing praise to thee, and not be silent. O Lord my God, I will give thanks unto thee for ever.” Psalm 30:11-12

Here’s how you obtain favour from the Lord; it is when you extol Him. “Sing unto the Lord, O ye saints of his, and give thanks at the remembrance of his holiness.” Psalm 30:4

If God has been angry with you but then you turn around to praise and worship him, his anger towards you is turned away. “For his anger endureth but a moment; in his favour is life: weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning.” Psalm 30:5

Favour and Grace are closely related but grace is unmerited whereas favour you got to connect with God, and give honour to Him in order to receive it. God shows favour to the one who delight in his ways and will. It is here we say, faith without works is dead – you not gonna   obtain favour unless you honour Him or show forth works worthy of it. Listen carefully to this, “Thus saith the Lord, The heaven is my throne, and the earth is my footstool: where is the house that ye build unto me? and where is the place of my rest? For all those things hath mine hand made, and all those things have been, saith the Lord : but to this man will I look, even to him that is poor and of a contrite spirit, and trembleth at my word.” (Isaiah 66:1-2). “For the eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to shew himself strong in the behalf of them whose heart is perfect toward him. Herein thou hast done foolishly: therefore from henceforth thou shalt have wars.” 2 Chronicles 16:9

You need favour of God? Then be perfect!

Here is how grace works; “For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men, Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world; Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ.” (Titus 2:11-13). Grace teaches us to live righteously so that we can receive favour from God.

“Hear, O Lord, and have mercy upon me: Lord, be thou my helper. Thou hast turned for me my mourning into dancing: thou hast put off my sackcloth, and girded me with gladness.” Psalm 30:10-11

God seeks out and hears those who love Him and love His commands so that He can bless, guide, and protect them, those worshipping him in spirit and in truth. It does not mean that everyone who is prosperous or healthy has found favour with God, (that’s not the reason we seek God for) nor does it mean that those whom the Lord favours will never suffer difficulties. Many people in the Bible had the Lord’s favour but also suffered hardship and difficulties, there is no exception. Those who are favoured of God know that even though the fig tree shall not blossom God is with them and that nothing can happen to them apart from His good purpose. In addition to outward evidences, say material wealth, God’s favour can also be felt in the spirit. There are many ways  to obtain favour from the Lord and one of them is to seek wisdom. “For whoso findeth me findeth life, and shall obtain favour of the Lord.” (Proverbs 8:35). David said, “I cried to thee, O Lord ; and unto the Lord I made supplication. What profit is there in my blood, when I go down to the pit? Shall the dust praise thee? shall it declare thy truth? Hear, O Lord , and have mercy upon me: Lord , be thou my helper.” Psalm 30:8-10
