Husbands, love your wives – Part 1

“Husbands, love your wives, and be not bitter against them.” Colossians 3:19

This verse is a typical disclosure of how some believers treats their wives, instead of being sweet they’re bitter against them. The synonyms of bitter is: resentful, embittered, aggrieved, dissatisfied, disgruntled, discontented, grudge-bearing, grudging, begrudging, indignant, rancorous, splenetic, spiteful, jaundiced, ill-disposed, sullen, sour, churlish, morose, petulant, peevish and the list goes on and sadly it’s at the hands of  a Christian brother that someone has to go through this. This happens in the home where they should find love, joy and peace but there is instead a husband who knows the Lord but is also two faced.

Imagine someone who should be a man’s beloved companion or help meet that have to put up with this painful or unpleasant experiences, and some for a life time, Leah is that good example.

Genesis 2:23-25 says, “And Adam said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man. Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh. And they were both naked, the man and his wife, and were not ashamed.”

The two, man and his wife, were not ashamed, even with each other. There was complete unity and all was done in utter unison, none felt abused of the other but were one flesh – no need to be careful. Man was not disagreeable, what he did was to leave his father and his mother, and cleave unto his wife. Men created in the image of God should never be nasty, cruel, awful, distressing, disquieting, disturbing, upsetting, harrowing, heartbreaking, heart-rending or agonising their wives. It’s not the reason God has joined us together for that one should feel unhappy, miserable, wretched, sad, poignant, grievious , traumatised, mortified, vexatious, distressful because of the things we make each other feel. It’s common these days but it ought not to be so especially between people who should instead be one flesh.  No way someone you call your wife should ever live under such deplorable conditions at this day and age.

Husbands, love your wives, and be not bitter against them; “Knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for ye serve the Lord Christ. But he that doeth wrong shall receive for the wrong which he hath done: and there is no respect of persons.” Colossians 3:24-25

“And the Lord said, Shall I hide from Abraham that thing which I do; [19] For I know him, that he will command his children and his household after him, and they shall keep the way of the Lord , to do justice and judgment; that the Lord may bring upon Abraham that which he hath spoken of him.” Genesis 18:17,19

Your relationship with God is determined by that we do in our own homes, for charity begins at home – to do good and to communicate forget not, and also to give confidence and pride to each other is good.
