How can these things be?

It’s a question Nicodemus asked, and I want to believe that we once asked ourselves the same question too when we were ministered the gospel, “Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again” (John 3:7). Scripture does not show Nicodemus understood ever, even after the Lord explained to him what that meant, and I believe even today few knows what that means. Often I hear contrasting answers to this question and some views are really out of touch with what Christ meant.

Bear with me! Jesus said, “Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit” (John 3:5-6). And also he said, “God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth” (John 4:24). Read again John 3. Can you see that Jesus drew a demarcation line between flesh and spirit and how those who worship God should worship him? i.e., “in spirit and in truth.” Flesh and Spirit are incompatible, or have two separate functions – “That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.” How should you worship God? In the spirit. Every Nicodemus of our generation should also know how to separate the two. “Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.” (John 3:3). Don’t give God what is Ceaser’s, or vis versa.

Now Nicodemus asked, “How can these things be?

“Jesus answered and said unto him, Art thou a master of Israel, and knowest not these things? Verily, verily, I say unto thee, We speak that we do know, and testify that we have seen; and ye receive not our witness” (John 3:10-11). Not all masters are leaders, and or leadership and management ain’t the same. I know what you’re think about for Nicodemus felt the same, he also felt teased when Jesus said, “We speak that we do know, and testify that we have seen; and ye receive not our witness.”

Why are some people not awoken up to the truth? “This is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil” (John 3:19). That’s the reason why they insist on serving God in the flesh, advantage. Paul rebuked Bar-jesus saying, “…O full of all subtilty and all mischief, thou child of the devil, thou enemy of all righteousness, wilt thou not cease to pervert the right ways of the Lord?” (Acts 13:10).

Anyway. “how can these things be?”
1 John 4:6 says, “We are of God: he that knoweth God heareth us; he that is not of God heareth not us. Hereby know we the spirit of truth, and the spirit of error.”

Hereby know we the spirit of truth, and the spirit of error; when that you do is fleshly motivated, it is flesh and erranuas, leading you nowhere. But that born of the Spirit is spirit, (you hear the truth) and is itself the spirit of truth. “But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.” John 3:21
