Helping God’s People

2 Corinthians 9:1 says, “For as touching the ministering to the saints, it is superfluous for me to write to you:” because you are already eager to do it.

Your deeds are as good as your doctrine; willing rather, as godly people to give generously to the poor. It is as the Scriptures say: “…He hath dispersed abroad; he hath given to the poor: his righteousness remaineth for ever.” 2 Corinthians 9:9

Relief offering is about helping the poor

It’s showing gratitude through your generous offerings to your needy brothers and sisters, and really toward everyone, not just your leaders. Carrying out this relief work involves far more than helping meet the bare needs of poor Christians but it also produces abundant and bountiful thanksgivings to God.

“Whiles by the experiment of this ministration they glorify God for your professed subjection unto the gospel of Christ, and for your liberal distribution unto them, and unto all men; And by their prayer for you, which long after you for the exceeding grace of God in you.” 2 Corinthians 9:13-14

Now when you give, rather help others, first make up your own mind of what and who you will give. Don’t give when you feel you’re under pressure. And you who preach, don’t force anyone to give more than he really wants to, “for God loveth a cheerful giver.” 2 Corinthians 9. Allow them plenty of time to think it over and when they make up their own mind as to how much they should give, let them give; “…not grudgingly, or of necessity…”

Now, when you help God’s people, when you’ve given to the poor, when you’ve dispersed abroad; he that ministereth seed to the sower will both minister bread for your food, and multiply your seed sown, and increase the fruits of your righteousness; and above all he, “God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work.” 2 Corinthians 9:8

God alone is able to make it up to you by giving you everything you need and more so that there will not only be enough for your own needs but plenty left over to give joyfully to others too. That will not be the result of giving to Prophets, Pastors or leader!
