From whence then hast thou that living water?

“The woman saith unto him, Sir, thou hast nothing to draw with, and the well is deep: from whence then hast thou that living water?” John 4:11

This woman is different to many I see these days – she asked questions. Many these days are such as, “Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools” (Romans 1:22). And so many of our men too.

Anyway, dead religion leads us nowhere, no matter how much it is modified. Living water isn’t in same old wells no matter the depth of them. This woman quickly understood it, but sad many will never no matter the time spent in church; 30, 50 or 100 years -even so, as they defend their ignorance they even get worse the more.

She asked, From whence then hast thou that living water? The answer is in John 4:10 – know the gift of God! Religion is not that gift of God. The answer isn’t in drawing water, and how deep you can go to source it. You will still thirst again no matter how much often or how often you they make you drink it. But the answer is in your personal relationship with God. You will never thirst again. “Jesus answered and said unto her, Whosoever drinketh of this water shall thirst again: But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.” John 4:13-14

Her salvation, redemption rather, came not because she buried her own ignorance but because she was open about it and asked questions, how, where, when, and automatically God opened her eyes. “The woman saith unto him, Sir, I perceive that thou art a prophet. Our fathers worshipped in this mountain; and ye say, that in Jerusalem is the place where men ought to worship” (John 4:19-20). Suddenly she realised how lost they’ve been, and

Jesus saith unto her, Woman, believe me, the hour cometh, when ye shall neither in this mountain, nor yet at Jerusalem, worship the Father. Ye worship ye know not what: we know what we worship: for salvation is of the Jews. But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him. God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.” John 4:21-24

The hour cometh, and already it is come when ye shall neither in this mountain, nor yet at Jerusalem, worship the Father. Now is the time, when the true worshippers should worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him. God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.

Ye worship ye know not what: we know what we worship, true worshippers worship the Father in spirit and in truth.

God bless,

Laurence
