“How amiable are thy tabernacles, O Lord of hosts!” Psalm 84:1
I love the house of God; whether it be a tent, cathedral, family or clan, tiny or might. Whatever state, in my eyes it is beautiful, and lovely.
“My soul longeth, yea, even fainteth for the courts of the Lord: my heart and my flesh crieth out for the living God.” Psalm 84:2
Now my friend, your soul also should long so for God’s house, and to even faint when denied the privilege of meeting with God among His people. Love God’s people, love fellowship!
Your appreciation for God’s house should be because it is altogether beautiful. How beholdest it thou? “…therefore when thine eye is single, thy whole body also is full of light; but when thine eye is evil, thy body also is full of darkness” Luke 11:34. Always see good!
“My heart and my flesh crieth out for the living God.”
The house of God is dear and a desired place to be because it is where you meet God. Everything within you, (spirit and body) should long for God, and to appear before Him in designated places. When you come to the house of God, your primary focus is to meet up with him; it’s not programs, connections, entertainment, excitement, or self-improvement that matters, but just to be in His presence.
What is it in the house of God for you?
“Yea, the sparrow hath found an house, and the swallow a nest for herself, where she may lay her young, even thine altars, O Lord of hosts, my King, and my God. Blessed are they that dwell in thy house: they will be still praising thee. Selah.” Psalm 84:3-4
I love church, because it’s where even the sparrow has found a home. You’ll also be blessed likewise, living at His tabernacles! The restless can also find their rest (nest) there – near God’s altar! Blessed are they that dwell in thy house!
There you’re refreshed; you grow from strength to strength, and there you meet with the Lord. He’s our light and protector. “I had rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God, than to dwell in the tents of wickedness.” Psalm 84:10. No place is like church!
“For a day in thy courts is better than a thousand. I had rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God, than to dwell in the tents of wickedness. For the Lord God is a sun and shield: the Lord will give grace and glory: no good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly.” Psalm 84:10-11
The LORD will give grace and glory!
