Feed my sheep – attitude adjustment

Three times Jesus instructed Peter, “feed my sheep” and upon the third time,  Peter was grieved because he said unto him the third time, Lovest thou me? And he said unto him, Lord, thou knowest all things; thou knowest that I love thee. Jesus saith unto him, Feed my sheep” (John 21:17). On the next verse Jesus said, “Verily, verily, I say unto thee, When thou wast young, thou girdedst thyself, and walkedst whither thou wouldest: but when thou shalt be old, thou shalt stretch forth thy hands, and another shall gird thee, and carry thee whither thou wouldest not.

He was grieved and said Lord, thou knowest all things. Of course he knew quite a lot. He knows so much about us too, our love for him, and all the other attitudes also. It was Peter’s attitude that he needed to work on.

Your attitude towards serving has to be right. Serve out of a genuine or sheer love for Christ, nothing more. As a minister of Christ there has to be harmony between what you say, and what you’re – be trustworthy, honest and transparent.

Peter needed to be freed himself, before he could serve. His behaviour, his words and inner self were out of tune with each other. These days also, we’ve a problem of ministers who pretend a lot, their character is not synced to their calling. They tell you they can help others while themselves they’re struggling with sin. Peter was like that too, one minute he was on fire, and the other minute he was a messenger of satan.

All ministers of his should have an attitude adjustment. Have good intentions; guidance, respect, empathy, warmth, also get rid of the burden of guilt.

And Jesus said, “Verily, verily, I say unto thee, When thou wast young, thou girdedst thyself, and walkedst whither thou wouldest: but when thou shalt be old, thou shalt stretch forth thy hands, and another shall gird thee, and carry thee whither thou wouldest not.

God bless,
