Draw me not away.

“Draw me not away with the wicked, and with the workers of iniquity, which speak peace to their neighbours, but mischief is in their hearts.” Psalm 28:3

If there is a thing that needs to be combated is false doctrine, best known these days in the circular world as “fake news”, which leaves believers scared, mortified, subdued and at risk of deceptive teachings.

So many people look up to whatever comes concerning their needs because they also don’t fully understand the message of the kingdom of God and the name of Christ, that need to be corrected, especially the misinformation that exists.

What I have noticed is people don’t take in the information that they’re given properly, it is twisted in their faces so that it should mean otherwise or what they want to hear. I see people want to use God’s word to design their future with it not that the word should instead use them. Trying to manipulate God’s word for any sort of advantage is that which leads nowhere. You become “like them that go down into the pit.” (Psalm 28:1). I like verse 5, it says, “Because they regard not the works of the Lord, nor the operation of his hands, he shall destroy them, and not build them up.”

Focusing on the worst-case scenario: there’s quite a lot of myths out there, people are busy deceiving themselves. “For many deceivers are entered into the world…” (2 John 1:7). Why are they deceived and being deceived? Because, they’ve own endeavours to achieve. Also because “they regard not the works of the Lord,” David said, “nor the operation of his hands.” See how people say ‘amen’ to what a prophet says more than on a scripture verse.

But let your prayer today be, Lord, “Draw me not away with the wicked, and with the workers of iniquity, which speak peace to their neighbours, but mischief is in their hearts.” (Psalm 28:3). They may speak peace, prophesy good but their intentions at the end it’s you going to be an object or victim of attack. Jesus said, “I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep. But he that is an hireling, and not the shepherd, whose own the sheep are not, seeth the wolf coming, and leaveth the sheep, and fleeth: and the wolf catcheth them, and scattereth the sheep. The hireling fleeth, because he is an hireling, and careth not for the sheep.” John 10:11-13

So many things that false prophets do to deceive, it is not just to intentionally raise false hopes but also to make you go down into the pit. For such beware!

David said, “Blessed be the Lord , because he hath heard the voice of my supplications.” (Psalm 28:6). May He hear yours too! “Hear the voice of my supplications, when I cry unto thee, when I lift up my hands toward thy holy oracle.” (Psalm 28:2). Note, He will hear your supplications, also when you cry to him and lift up your hands towards his word.

Where do you lift up your mindset? Towards his oracle – you lift your mind, spirit, soul and body. He will hear you according to his word; “The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusted in him, and I am helped: therefore my heart greatly rejoiceth; and with my song will I praise him. The Lord is their strength, and he is the saving strength of his anointed. Save thy people, and bless thine inheritance: feed them also, and lift them up for ever.” Psalm 28:7-9
