“If there be therefore any consolation in Christ, if any comfort of love, if any fellowship of the Spirit, if any bowels and mercies, Fulfil ye my joy, that ye be likeminded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind.” Philippians 2:1-2
In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset and attitude as that of Christ Jesus:
“Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus” Philippians 2:5
“Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men.” Philippians 2:6-7
- he did not demand and cling to his rights as God, (vs 6)
- he laid aside his mighty power and glory, taking the disguise of a slave and becoming like men, (vs 7)
- he lived a selfless, obedient life and then died a selfless, obedient death, (vs 8)
Your attitude should be the same, the kind that was shown by Jesus Christ, i.e. having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind.
“Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves. Look not every man on his own things, but every man also on the things of others.” Philippians 2:3-4
Let this mind be in you, if at all you’ve understood what it means to follow Christ, if his love has made any difference in your life, if any fellowship of the Spirit, if any bowels and mercies. You put yourself aside, and help others get ahead. This is how believers should struggle for mastery You’re not obsessed with getting your own advantages but the first shall be the last. In the kingdom we help others get ahead us.
We do all things to the glory of God the Father, “For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.” Philippians 2:13
“…in the midst…”
“Do all things without murmurings and disputings: That ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world; Holding forth the word of life; that I may rejoice in the day of Christ, that I have not run in vain, neither laboured in vain.” Philippians 2:14-16
