Good works

Don’t draw attention to your giving!

Last week I said Christians should think soberly, and do good works. I also said you’re light and salt; meaning you’re called to influence the world with our light. Although Christians are to be seen doing good works, they must not do good works simply to be seen. Jesus said, “Take heed that ye do not your alms before men, to be seen of them: otherwise ye have no reward of your Father which is in heaven. Therefore when thou doest thine alms, do not sound a trumpet before thee, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may have glory of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.” Matthew 6:1-2 When we do righteous deeds you’re doing them to be seen, but you’re doing them as unto the Lord, not for seeking attention and cheering of men, if that’s the case…
