Spiritual warfare – Psalm 133
Psalm 133 has only three verses but it’s so rich. Believers should learn to dwell together in unity – It is like the precious ointment, or dew upon a mountain!
Where brothers live in harmony!
“….for there the Lord commanded the blessing, even life for evermore” (Psalm 133:3).
How wonderful it is, how pleasant when we flow together.
Here the psalmist is encouraging believers to connect with each other in a more meaningful way. Relationships are built, they don’t just happen on their own, they’ take formation, “as the dew of Hermon, and as the dew that descended upon the mountains of Zion…”
Among other things the church’s purpose is so that brethren “dwell together in unity.” The experience alone is pleasant, and fulfilling. David couldn’t wait to be in church, and it’s good that we also move towards the same goal. But, how we move towards achieving this goal, or lifestyle, is sometimes self-defeating as a result of the many challenges, divisions, chiding, discouragement and inferiority feelings that we as believers undergo, many have backslid.
But David here is however encouraging us to identify and utilize our strengths of coming together, for at least to develop our relationships, and those relationships must be more fulfilling.
We mustn’t concentrate towards superiority and perfectionism, but must learn how to cope appropriately even with our inevitable inferiority feelings, and allow that precious ointment to flow throw us. For when I am weak then am I strong in the Lord.
You got to accept it that grace may abound. The unique way a believer copes with inferiority and strives for excellence is what constitutes individualism. We all remember the times when we were even dissatisfied with ourselves, and we rose above those times to reach a higher level of functioning in the body of Christ. These levels of dissatisfaction are normal conditions of all believers and serve as motivation to continue to strive for mastery. What am I saying? Allow me to be me, instead. Unity
To dwell together in unity does not mean that everyone should dissociate themselves with who they are and start to be like you – thinking like that is self-defeating. I like how the Holy Ghost works; he is like the precious ointment, and is as the dew. He descends and runs down upon us all regardless of whatever how what factors of our lifestyles.
