“I said, Lord , be merciful unto me: heal my soul; for I have sinned against thee.” Psalm 41:4
Do not look far for what was the Lord’s response to that request. He said in the first three verses; “Blessed is he that considereth the poor…” You want the Lord to heal you too? Dorcus understood it; consider the poor!
Show compassion to the poor and needy.
We were created to do good works, including that of taking care of the poor and suffering among us. Whoever claims to live in Christ must walk as Jesus did (ref. 1 John 2:4, 6). And Christ said, “If you love me, you will obey what I command” (John 14:15). Jesus commanded us to love one another (John 13:34–35). And we demonstrate his love, kindness and compassion by reaching out to the poor and needy among us. When you do that, he’ll reward you exceedingly and abundantly – He is going to heal you, and deliver you from trouble.
What will a man get for remembering the poor?
“The Lord will deliver him in time of trouble. The Lord will preserve him, and keep him alive; and he shall be blessed upon the earth: and thou wilt not deliver him unto the will of his enemies. The Lord will strengthen him upon the bed of languishing: thou wilt make all his bed in his sickness.” Psalm 41:1-3
God blesses those who are kind to the poor. He helps them out of their troubles.
