The knowledge of God, (not that found on the surface as gold dust, but that you dig/search for as hidden treasure) comes through only receiving his word. As the word comes, understand it and retain it as you do knowledge of anything, say mathematics.
Find yourself true knowledge of God, this also is not found on the surface. Genuine knowledge of God makes you to understand the fear of the Lord. You need a good understanding of Him on this journey, his secrets are with the righteous.
Proverbs 2:3-5 says, “Yea, if thou criest after knowledge, and liftest up thy voice for understanding…..then shalt thou understand the fear of the Lord, and find the knowledge of God.” And “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding” Proverbs 9:10. “For the Lord giveth wisdom: out of his mouth cometh knowledge and understanding” Proverbs 2:6.
Wisdom is discretion and understanding applied to one’s life. “Discretion shall preserve thee, understanding shall keep thee” Proverbs 2:11.
Wisdom is being able to turn around when reproved; it’s all about taking counsel. If you ignore the word of God, fear will soon close in on you.
Again, wisdom is an ornament of grace, for by it the Lord “keepeth the paths of judgment, and preserveth the way of his saints.” Proverbs 2:8. He layeth up sound wisdom for the righteous: he is a buckler to them that walk uprightly, Proverbs 2:7.
I like this verse; “When wisdom entereth into thine heart, and knowledge is pleasant unto thy soul; Discretion shall preserve thee, understanding shall keep thee” Proverbs 2:10.
Not all knowledge is pleasant to the soul, there is that that puffeth up, but the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ gives life, it’s an ornament of grace, which is to you is long life and peace.
Ornament of grace – Part II
Understanding the fear of the Lord
“The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding” Proverbs 9:10.
The first thing we’ve to come to terms with is that we’re His children, and if children, then we should always take instructions from Our Father, and more also attend to know understanding for “the knowledge of the holy is understanding.” Don’t say you know when in actual fact you’ve not understood his ways.
Know your father’s will, then understand the facts surrounding his will. “And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge; And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness; And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity. For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ” 2 Peter 1:5-8.
Now, the mistake many of us do is in Proverbs 4:3 which says, “For I was my father’s son, tender and only beloved in the sight of my mother.” Two things are elucidated here but see it this way that some believers are tender and beloved to their prophets, bishops and pastors, but not in the sight of God the Father. The Father would be trying to connect with them to retain his word, but they’re tenderly and beloved only to their mothers, i.e., their leaders.
My friend, “get wisdom, get understanding: forget it not; neither decline from the words of my mouth….Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding. Exalt her, and she shall promote thee: she shall bring thee to honour, when thou dost embrace her. She shall give to thine head an ornament of grace: a crown of glory shall she deliver to thee.” Proverbs 4:5-9
In this journey we’ve undertaken together, wisdom is key – Fear God. You will need wisdom, fearing of God more than you should fear anyone else. Wisdom is the sum result of knowledge and understanding instruction. “I have taught thee in the way of wisdom; I have led thee in right paths. When thou goest, thy steps shall not be straitened; and when thou runnest, thou shalt not stumble. Take fast hold of instruction; let her not go: keep her; for she is thy life” Proverbs 4:11-13.
Luke 1:4 says, “…know the certainty of those things, wherein thou hast been instructed.” The path of the just is as the shining light, that shineth more and more unto the perfect day.
Wisdom, (fear of God) understanding, knowledge, instruction, “…. are life unto those that find them, and health to all their flesh” Proverbs 4:22. An ornament of grace.
